The two Prime Ministers expressed their pleasure at the positive growth momentum of Viet Nam-Cambodia relations over the recent past as evidenced by enhanced political trust and progress in joint border work.

Defense and security cooperation has emerged as a pillar of bilateral ties while the two-way trade increased by 9.6 percent to nearly US$5 billion in the first four months this year.

Viet Nam welcomed around 400,000 Cambodian tourists in January-April period, an increase of 41.6 percent against the same period last year.

The two Prime Ministers agreed that both sides will continue consolidating political trust, maintaining close defense and security cooperation. They reaffirmed the consistent policy of not allowing hostile forces to use one's territory against the other.

The two sides concurred to enhance the connectivity between the two economies; promote cultural, education and tourism cooperation; explore the possibility of expanding air service network between the two countries and among Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia.

The two sides also agreed to explore the establishment of a cross-border special economic zone and faciliate customs clearance for their exports.

Given the current global and regional context, the two sides agreed to step up coordination at regional and international forums, especially Mekong subregion mechanisms and the United Nations.

The two sides agreed to continue exchanges and consultations on strategic issues of mutual concern; coordinate with other ASEAN Member States to consolidate the bloc's solidarity and resilience, promote the settlement of differences , and expand cooperation with ASEAN's partners on the basis of ensuring ASEAN centrality, thus contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Following their summit meeting, the two Prime Ministers witnessed the exchange of a plan for information cooperation for 2026-2030 period between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Viet Nam and the Ministry of Information of Cambodia./.
