Peace is the ultimate goal of international cooperation and the common value of the human kind, said Prime Minister Pham, adding that sustainable peace, respect for laws and sustainable development have close-knit and cohesive relations.
Pham pledged that Viet Nam will do its best to contribute to peace, stability and sustainable development across the world.
He underlined the need for respecting the United Nations Charter and international law, upholding peaceful resolution of all disputes through concrete commitments.
He also called on relevant parties to resolve conflicts through dialogues and negotiations to find long-term solutions which take into account the legitimate interests of the sides.
Prime Minister Pham affirmed that Viet Nam picks no side, instead it chooses justice, fairness, and goodness.
Pham expressed his wish that the international community and partners would continue supporting the central role of ASEAN in building the region of peace, stability, cooperation, and self-reliance.
From that perspective, countries need to seriously abide by the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and work towards conclusion of a practical and effective Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in line with international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
He urged parties to exercise self-restraint, avoid actions that may complicate the situation or violate sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction of the relevant countries as defined in the provisions of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Last but not least, Prime Minister Pham emphasized that sincerity, strategic trust, and sense of responsibility are of especial significance for addressing the current global challenges.
Viet Nam pursues the aforesaid values through consistent implementation of its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, diversification and multi-lateralization, being a good friend, trusted partner, and active and responsible member of the international community.
