Viet Nam Cyber Security Day is held annually to accelerate the implementation of national cyber security tasks and raise awareness of the people about the role, significance and benefits of cyber security.
It aims to promote the participation of the whole political system and encourage synchronized action at all levels to ensure the effective operation of cyber security assurance.
The Government chief has tasked relevant agencies to actively participate in promoting cybersecurity initiatives while press agencies were required to disseminate information on cyber security and increase promotion of Viet Nam Cyber Security Day.
Viet Nam's cyber security landscape improved in the second quarter of 2024 compared to a year earlier, but unrelenting vigilance should be a priority to prevent threats, according to global cybersecurity and digital privacy company Kaspersky.
The company said it blocked 4.8 million web-borne threats on computers of Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) participants in Viet Nam between April and June 2024, down from 7.7 million in the second quarter last year.
But nearly one in five Vietnamese users is still exposed to web-borne threats, it said.
Viet Nam continues to be among the countries with the highest overall cybersecurity index score in the fifth Global Cybersecurity Index, according to the fifth Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2024 released by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The Southeast Asian nation is one of 46 countries ranked in Tier 1 on the ITU Global Cybersecurity Index with a total score of 99.74./.
