Viet Nam and Brazil set up diplimatic ties in May 18, 1989 and elevated their ties to comprehensive partnership in 2007.
Brazil is the biggest trading partner of Viet Nam in Latin America and the largest trading partner in the Americas, with the two-way trade reaching a new record of US$6.78 billion in 2022.
Both sides are joining negotiations on a free trade agreement between Viet Nam and MERCOSUR – a bloc comprising Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
The two countries are also cooperating in such fields like defense, agriculture, science and technology, education and training, culture.
On multilateral aspect, both sides share the same views on many international issues and support each other at multilateral forums.
Given the background, Prime Minister Pham's Brazil visit aims to further consolidate political trust and deepen the bilateral multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries./.
