Specifically, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was tasked to instruct local authorities to ensure safety of reservoirs in flood-hit areas as well as the lives of local residents.

The ministry has to submit a project on early warning of landslides and flash floods in mountainous and midland Viet Nam to the Prime Minister in August for approval.

The Government asked the Ministry of Transport to review and inspect transport roads in order to early detect landslide risks and support localities to surmount landslides in major transport routes.

Heavy downpours with precipitation readings of 100–200 mm have been recorded in Viet Nam's northern region since August 4, killing at least 10 people.

Earlier on August 7, Prime Minister Pham  also urged ministries, sectors, and localities ramp up responsive measures and settlement of downpour and flood consequences in northern mountainous and midland areas.

Landslides are of great concern in the Northwestern region and Central Highlands in Viet Nam.

In recent years, many serious landslides have taken a heavy toll on people’s lives and property as well as transportation activities./.
