Congratulations to Tunisian newly-elected PM
PM Nguyen Tan Dung extended his greetings to Mr. Habib Essid upon his election as PM of the Republic of Tunisia.
Mr. Habib Essid was appointed as Minister of Interior in March 2011. A year later in 2012, he was appointed as security advisor to former PM Hamadi Jebali.
VN resolutely opposes violations of sovereignty
Deputy Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Pham Thu Hang once again affirmed at a press conference that Viet Nam determinedly opposes acts that violate its sovereignty, sovereign right and jurisdiction in the East Sea.
The Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson also strongly affirmed Viet Nam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes and all acts taken by parties in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes without Viet Nam’s permission are illegal, null and void.
VN enjoys trade surplus from South Africa
Viet Nam-South Africa trade turnover in 2014 is estimated to reach $962 million, up nearly 5% compared to the previous year.
Of the figure, Viet Nam’s respective exports and imports were $815 million and $147 million, resulting in a trade surplus of US$ 668 million from South Africa.
In 2014, Viet Nam’s two-way trade turnover with Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, and Lesotho was $92.9 million, $34.7 million, $26.4 million, $21.1 million $14.7 million, and $12.3 million, respectively.
Octopus exports to RoK surge
Viet Nam earned $156.4 million from exporting frozen octopus to the Republic of Korea (RoK) over the first 11 months of 2014, up 26.8% compared to the same period last year.
According to the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the export value of frozen octopus to the RoK accounted for 35.7% of the total value of Viet Nam’s mollusk exports.
ASEAN nations invest $53 bln in VN
Eight nations in ASEAN have poured $53 billion in 2,507 projects in Viet Nam, accounting for 20% of the total investment capital and 14% of the total number of projects.
As of December 2014, Singapore led investments in Viet Nam among the eight ASEAN nations which also include Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, and Cambodia. It was followed by Malaysia and Thailand.
OSS model for Laos-VN border hailed
The Lao Government has applauded Viet Nam’s coordinated efforts in building ‘one-stop-shop’ (OSS) model at the international border gates of Lao Bao (Viet Nam) and Densavan and Savanakhet (Laos).
The OSS model helps to reduce waiting times and increase precision throughout the customs clearance process.
The Lao side is improving infrastructure and training human resources for the project that is expected for operation in February this year.
