Viet Nam's President to visit Laos next week

VGP – President Vo Van Thuong is set to pay an official visit to Laos from April 10-11, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Friday.

Vo's two-day visit will be made at the invitation of Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, said the ministry.

This is the first foreign trip of Vo since he was elected President of Viet Nam on February 3, 2023.

Viet Nam and Laos established diplomatic relations in September 1962 and both countries have maintained their great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.

Viet Nam has 219 active investment projects in Laos with total registered capital of around US$4.3 billion, ranking third after China and Thailand.

The two-way trade increased by more than 25 percent to nearly US$1.7 billion last year./.
