
President of Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology Tran Hong Thai
Born in 1974 in the central province of Ha Tinh, Tran completed his undergraduate studies in Russia before earning a doctorate in Earth Sciences and Mathematics from Heidelberg University in Germany.
In his career, he worked for years at the General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
He served as Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province, and Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council.
In September 2025, the Prime Minister appointed him as Standing Vice President of the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology.
The Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology is a governmental agency responsible for conducting fundamental research in natural sciences and developing new technologies.
It also provides scientific evidence to support the management of science and technology and the formulation of policies, strategies and development plans for the country's socio-economic growth.
In addition, the Academy is tasked with training high-level scientific and technological human resources in accordance with the law.
The Academy currently has four vice presidents namely Bui The Duy, Tran Tuan Anh, Le Truong Giang and Chu Hoang Ha./.
