The State President delivered his Lunar New Year message and beat the ceremonial drum to officially open the Xuan Que Huong (Homeland Spring) 2026 art program themed "Vietnamese Aspiration: Peace and Prosperity" on February 8 in Ha Noi.

He noted that 2025 was marked by major events and significant achievements, alongside administrative streamlining and the restructuring of development space, which helped create momentum toward the country's two centennial development goals.

Despite severe natural disasters and a complex global and regional environment, Viet Nam  demonstrated its resilience, intellect, determination and aspiration. Under the leadership of the Party and with strong nationwide resolve, the country overcame difficulties and achieved comprehensive and breakthrough outcomes, he added.

External relations continued to be a bright spot, further enhancing Viet Nam's international standing. Overseas Vietnamese communities have remained important bridges of friendship and cooperation while contributing valuable resources to national development.

The State President stressed that "great opportunities, great aspirations and great responsibilities" now rest on every Vietnamese, emphasizing that unity and solidarity are the decisive strengths to materialize the nation's vision.

As Viet Nam enters a new phase of development, he highlighted the vital role of the diaspora—not only through knowledge, financial resources and management experience, but also in connecting the country with the world and promoting the image of a dynamic, responsible and trustworthy Viet Nam.

He called on overseas Vietnamese to continue fostering patriotism and solidarity, contribute ideas and technology, invest, engage in social activities and accompany the country in its development process. He affirmed that the Party and State will continue creating favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to remain connected with and contribute to the homeland.

The State President expressed his hope that the program will continue to nurture the spirit of remembering one's roots, strengthen ties between nearly 6.5 million overseas Vietnamese and the homeland, and encourage contributions to building a strong, prosperous and happy Viet Nam in the new development era.

According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, the overseas Vietnamese community remains an important national resource. More than 650,000 expatriate intellectuals, together with professional associations and innovation networks—including 10 overseas innovation networks with around 2,000 experts and more than 30 professional organizations—have contributed ideas in strategic fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, nuclear energy and quantum physics.

In line with the 14th National Party Congress, science, technology, innovation and digital transformation are identified as key drivers of Viet Nam's breakthrough development. She said overseas Vietnamese are expected to continue making contributions across multiple areas./.
