PM urges Saigon New Port Corporation to compete globally

He raised the task while attending a ceremony to give the order to handle the first cargo in the Year of the Cat at Tan Cang-Cat Lai port which belongs to the Saigon New Port Corporation in Ho Chi Minh City on January 29.

The leader said the Saigon New Port Corporation would promote its key role in the deep-water seaport development in the country, as well as maintaining its position as the pioneer in implementing the maritime economic development strategy until 2030 with a vision to 2045.

The Government, ministries and sectors will always support the firm and the whole Vietnamese business community in general, he added. 

The corporation is operating eight container ports, including the three largest and most modern ones in Viet Nam, accounting for 55 percent of the domestic market share. 

The Tan Cang-Cat Lai is among 20 container port clusters with highest production in the world. 

In 2022, the corporation reported a rise of 5.4 percent in revenue and 16.2 percent in profit, contributing over VND 1.9 trillion (US$ 80.96 million) to the State budget./.
