The Government chief stressed the point on Saturday while addressing a ceremony to mark 75th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam People's Army (December 22, 1944-December 22, 2019).
The army must continue thoroughly grasping and fruitfully implementing the guidelines, viewpoints and policies of the Party and State on developing and consolidating all-people defense that has the nature of peace and self-defense.
Phuc underlined that training must be further strengthened to ensure that military officers and soldiers have firm stuff and master modern military equipment and weapons.
Along with improving combat readiness, the army must continue play a key role in preventing and overcoming consequences of national calamities, environmental disasters, and rescue work, said Phuc
The army also needs to continue expanding bilateral and multilateral defense cooperation with foreign partners and actively participate in the United Nations peace-keeping operations in order to contribute to effectively deploying Viet Nam’s foreign policy and to enhancing mutual understanding and trust between Viet Nam and other countries.
