PM Pham Minh Chinh holds phone talks with Chinese counterpart

The two Prime Ministers reviewed the relationship and discussed practical measures to consolidate friendship, strengthen political trust and expand comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Prime Minister Pham congratulated the Party, State and people of China on their achievements in COVID-19 management and socio-economic development.

He emphasized that consolidating and enhancing the Viet Nam-China traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership is a top priority in Viet Nam’s foreign policy, adding that the healthy and effective development of the bilateral ties is of significant importance to peace and development in each country and it is conducive to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Premier Li extended congratulations to the Party, State and people of Viet Nam on their achievements in COVID-19 containment, recovery and soci-economic development, underlining that the Party, State and people of China attach importance to the relationship with Viet Nam and wish to further deepen the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Viet Nam and China.

The two sides were pleased with the continuous advancement of the bilateral ties in 2021 as evidenced by regular high-level exchanges and contacts and new record of the two-way trade (around US$160 billion).

Regarding cargo congestion at border gates, Prime Minister Pham emphasized that both sides need to closely coordinate and take effective measures to handle the situation in order to ensure smooth trade exchanges and supply chain between the two countries and in the region.

Pham asked the Chinese side to step up market opening for Viet Nam’s agricultural products, including fruits, assuring his Chinese counterpart that the Southeast Asian country is determined to pursue safety of exports.

Pham suggested both countries continue to effectively implement the three legal documents on land border and promote the role of negotiation mechanisms to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea and satisfactorily settle maritime issues in line with the common perceptions reached by the two countries’ senior leaders and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea while actively accelerating negotiation process to reach a practical and efficient Code of Conduct in the East Sea in accordance with international law./.
