PM meets with Uzbek leaders

VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng met with Uzbek President Islam Karimov and Chairman of the Uzbekistani Senate Ilgizar Sobirov on Monday in Tashkent, as part of his three-day official visit to the Central Asian country.

PM Dũng suggested the two sides strengthen reciprocal visits at all levels in future to cement and deepen the bilateral ties while meeting with the Uzbek President.

The Government chief informed the President about the outcomes of the recent talks with his Uzbek counterpart, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, about specific orientations and measures to spur the bilateral ties in a wide range of areas in the coming time. 

The PM affirmed that the Vietnamese Government would create favorable conditions for Uzbekistani businesses to invest in Việt Nam and seeks the support from Uzbek President Islam Karimov for Vietnamese business activities in Uzbekistan, particularly in such areas like oil and gas exploration and exploitation, agro-forestry and aquaculture, garment and textiles, and footwear.

President Islam Karimov hailed the outcomes and agreements reached between the two sides at the recent talks.

The Uzbek President spoke highly of the Việt Nam National Oil and Gas Group’s effective operations in Uzbekistan and reiterated his support for the two countries’ cooperation in the field.

Meeting with Chairman of the Uzbekistani Senate Ilgizar Sobirov the same day, PM Dũng underlined that the two countries’ political and diplomatic relations have been flourishing in the recent past.

The Vietnamese Government chief hoped that the two parliaments will increase the exchange of experiences in law-making activities, thus boosting their bilateral ties and contributing to fostering relations between the two countries. 

Senate Chairman Sobirov said that bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation remains modest and inappropriate to the potentials and aspirations of the two sides.

The Senate Chairman urged the two countries to accelerate cooperation in trade and investment promotion activities, facilitate the operation of each other’s businesses and support export-import activities between the two sides.

He also said he hoped the two legislatures to promote exchanges of experience, thus strengthening their cooperation to contribute to developing the traditional friendship between Việt Nam and Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan.

The same day, PM Dũng met with President of the Uzbekistan-Việt Nam Friendship Association Tursunali Kuziev, representatives of the Russian Oil and Gas Group./.
