PM joins charity walk with the disabled

VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Sunday joined thousands of people in a charity walk in Phu My Hung urban zone, Ho Chi Minh City to show support for the Vietnamese disabled people and orphaned children.

The event was designed to encourage every people to take care of and share the burdens suffered by the disabled and the orphaned across the country, help them to better integrate into the society.

As a country with around 6.7 million disabled people, including 1.2 million children, the State has issued a number of policies to back and ensure rights of the disabled, particularly policies relevant to training, employment and healthcare.

In addition, international friends and Vietnamese people with the tradition of “whole leaves wrap torn ones” deeply sympathize with the disabled and provide spiritual and financial assistance for them.

In response, many of the disabled have tried to become typical examples in such areas of science and technology, culture, art and sports. Many of them are increasingly confident and financially sefl-reliant.

PM Dung took the occasion to praise the great assistance of businesses, domestic and foreign organizations and individuals for the Vietnamese disabled people and orphaned children as well as the strong will and efforts by the disabled and orphaned children to work and integrate into local communities.

He tasked inferior levels to continue improving the legal system, particularly policies on vocational training and employment and healthcare.

PM Dung called on local and foreign organizations and individuals to continue their assistance for the Vietnamese disabled persons and orphaned children.

Organizers said over VND 10 billion was collected during the charity walk./.
