The Government chief made the order at his virtual meeting with leaders of the two localities on Monday.

To achieve the goal, the local authorities must accelerate testing to quickly detect and stamp out infection sources and set up mobile health stations to help residents access to health services as fast and as soon as possible.

The local authorties also need to step up information dissemination to help residents protect their health and take the vaccine when it comes to their turns.

According to the Ministry of Health, Kien Giang has recorded 3,034 infection cases, including 25 deaths since the fourth COVID-19 wave began in Viet Nam on April 27.

The tally includes 1,217 COVID-19 cases documented during the last week, up 559 cases compared to that of the previous week.

Seven district-level units are now labeled very high-risk areas while three others are high-risk areas, said the ministry.

Meanwhile, Tien Giang has reported 12,205 cases, including 299 fatalities over the same period.

During the past week alone, the province recorded 1,139 cases./.
