PM Dũng: Army greatly contributes to the country’s achievements

The Government chief praised the army for contributions to securing socio-political stability, protecting sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests. Armed forces, including the people’s army and police, have actively taken part in socio-economic development, poverty eradication, rescue and relief work, especially in remote areas and disaster-hit localities, stressed the PM.

He reiterated that national defense and security, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, political stability, and social order and safety are decisive conditions for socio-economic development. “Without national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, it is impossible to build and develop the country”, PM Dũng added.

Analyzing socio-economic situations at home and in the world, the PM underlined the goal of building a regular, modern and seasoned army which can fulfilled all assignments and cope with all complicated situations.

He urged the army to pay attention to form a "people-based battle disposition" so as to generate the aggregate strength for national protection.

When Việt Nam is integrating deeper into the world economy, economic development, national defense and security, and diplomacy must be closely combined to ensure the country’s development, the PM emphasized.

He also highlighted such tasks as consolidating the whole-people solidarity, promoting socio-economic development in disadvantaged and strategic areas, updating the military education, and enhancing the application of hi-tech advances into national defense activities.
