PM attends meeting of Socio-Economic Sub-Committee with nine Northern mountainous provinces

This is the fifth region the Sub-Committee has worked with to seek inputs for the draft 2021-2030 socio-economic development strategy and the 2021-2025 socio-economic development plan, which will be submitted the 13th National Party Congress.

Earlier, the Sub-Committee held working sessions with localities in the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City, the Central Coast and the Central Highlands, the South and Ha Noi and 12 neighboring localities. 

Participants to the meeting include Deputy PMs, leaders from ministries, agencies and relevant localities. 

Speaking at the meeting, PM Phuc referred to difficulties and losses caused by the floods in the Yen Bai Province, asking Northern mountainous provinces, Nghe An Province and Thanh Hoa Province to direct to cope with natural calamity and launch works to overcome consequences of heavy rains, landslide and floods. 

Nine provinces in the North and the provinces of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa have large population scale, he said, requiring to seek for a measure to connect the capital city of Ha Noi with these localities and find characteristics of the region to compare and identify the strategic locations, including defense, security, diplomacy and environment in the context of climate change.  

He expressed his delight on the developments of these provinces over the recent years, expecting that orientations will be proposed for the region to tackle difficulties and challenges in infrastructure and poverty.
