At the ceremony, Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải asserted that the FDI project will be a precondition for Việt Nam to foster its auxiliary industries. He expressed his hope that the Piaggio Việt Nam plant will become the Italian group’s major establishment of production in Asia.

Invested with US $30 million, the factory comes into operation after the one-year construction and is expected to produce over 50,000 Vespa motorbikes per year.

The plant’s first products are of the model Vespa LX, completely made in Việt Nam. The retail price of a Vespa LX 125 motorbike is US $3,450.
