This is the first visit of a Kazakh President to Viet Nam in 12 years, and also the first time Tokayev visits Viet Nam in his new position.
Viet Nam and Kazakhstan set up their diplomatic ties on June 29, 1992. Since then, the bilateral relations have been developing well in various fields.
The two Presidents hold talks right after the welcome ceremony.
The visit of President Tokayev marks a new chapter in the Viet Nam-Kazakhstan economic-trade-tourism cooperation. The two sides are expected to sign over 10 cooperation agreements during the visit.
In 2021, Viet Nam-Kazakhstan trade accounted for 10 percent of total trade between Viet Nam and the EAEU./.
