The meetings took place on the sidelines of the UN Summit of the Future and the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He highly valued the international lender's important role in monitoring the macro-economic stability of economies and advising countries about the building of policies on financial and monetary system stabilization, poverty reduction, sustainable and balanced economic growth, and climate change response.

From an underdeveloped economy, Viet Nam is now one of the world's 40 largest economies and doubling efforts to realize goals in 2030 when the Southeast Asian country marks the 100th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and in 2045 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the country's foundation.

He took the occasion to seek the fund's support for Viet Nam to materialize the that vision, promote economic restructuring, reform the growth model, conduct digital transformation and green transition, and develop new technologies such as artificial intelligence, ensure social security and eliminating poverty.

In reply, Georgieva assessed that Viet Nam and ASEAN as a whole are bright spots in the global economy, particularly during the tough times that the world economy is hit by a series of shocks.

The IMF leader expected that Viet Nam will work alongside with the IMF to share its experience and success story with other countries, especially partners in Africa.

The IMF has been a good friend and partner, supporting Viet Nam to improve its growth quality, noted Georgieva.

She reiterated IMF's commitment to assisting Viet Nam in becoming a developed and high-income nation by 2045 through promoting reforms and risk governance.

Bulgaria welcomes Vietnamese guest workers

Viet Nam always bears in mind and expects to boost multifaceted cooperation with Bulgaria, affirmed General Secretary and President To Lam during his meeting with President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev.

He suggested the two countries optimize the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) to further elevate their bilateral ties.

The top Vietnamese leader took the occasion to urge Bulgaria to push for the early ratification of the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) by the remaining EU member states and the removeral of the European Commission's "yellow card" against Vietnamese seafood exports.

In reply, the Bulgarian President expressed the personal eagerness for his forthcoming visit and pledged to advance bilateral cooperation in health care, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, IT, agriculture, and natural resources and environment.

Rumen Radev announced that Bulgaria stands ready to welcome Vietnamese workers.

Both sides agreed to jointly hold cultural and art activities to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic relations next year.

Spurring Viet Nam-Finland relations

During the meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, General Secretary and President To Lam asserted that Viet Nam attaches importance to strengthening the two countries' traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation.

He thanked the Finnish government and people for their support during Viet Nam's past national struggle for independence and in its development journey, particularly in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Vietnamese leader also appreciated Finland's ratification of the EVIPA, calling on the two sides to accelerate the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms and expand cooperation in education, training, and culture-sport exchanges to enhance their people's mutual understanding and friendship.

In response, President Alexander Stubb pledged to encourage Finnish enterprises to invest in potential fields in Viet Nam, such as telecommunications, renewable energy, water management, forest technology, and information technology.

He also expressed his hope that Viet Nam would continue to serve as a bridge in fostering relations between Finland and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The two leaders agreed to work closely together to fully leverage the opportunities presented by the EVIPA and boost cooperation and mutual support at multilateral forums, particularly the UN and within the ASEAN-EU partnership framework.

Welcoming Kuwaiti businesses

At the meeting with Crown Prince of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, the top Vietnamese leader said that Viet Nam always attaches importance to the good friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Kuwait.

He suggested that the two sides continue to exchange all-level delegations and effectively implement the existing cooperation mechanisms.

Viet Nam stands ready to welcome Kuwaiti enterprises to increase investment in Viet Nam in new areas such as green growth, climate change response, and Halal food, said To.

In reply, the Kuwaiti Crown Prince said that Kuwait wants to cooperate with Viet Nam in such areas as tourism, labor and Halal food and stands ready to support the Southeast Asian nation to reinforce linkages with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC),.

The Crown Prince also pledged to work with Viet Nam to resolve difficulties at the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in the central province of Thanh Hoa./.
