President Yoon congratulated on Viet Nam's comprehensive development achievements, and international role and position, expressing his belief that under the leadership of Nguyen Viet Nam will successfully realize its goal to become a developed country by 2045.
Yoon was glad to witness the outstanding development of the relationship between Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea, affirming that his country expects to continue as a trusted partner of Viet Nam's next development stage.
Viet Nam remains one of the most important partners in the Republic of Korea's policy towards the region, reiterated Yoon.
The Vietnamese Party Chief congratulated Yoon upon his election as the 20th President of the Republic of Korea and welcomed the Northeast Asian nation's role and positive contributions to regional cooperation mechanisms and international forums for peace, cooperation, friendship and development.
He reassured Viet Nam attaches importance to the strategic partnership with the Republic of Korea, highly valuing its support for the development cause in Viet Nam.
The two Presidents agreed to strengthen political trust, high-level contacts and exchanges across the Party, Government and National Assembly, and people-to-people links.
They underlined the importance of further promoting the key role of bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation, fostering cultural, local-to-local, and labor cooperation; developing cooperation in defense and security, and actively coordinating at regional and international forums and mechanisms.
Exchanging views on regional and international issues of shared concerns, Party chief Nguyen affirmed Viet Nam will stick to its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, friendship, cooperation, and development, diversification and multi-lateralization of external relations, being a trusted friend and partner, and an active and responsible member of the international community.
He also affirmed Viet Nam stands ready to make positive contributions to the process of peace and denuclearization on the Korean peninsula and supports efforts to maintain peace in the Northeast Asian region.
On the East Sea issue, the two sides agreed on the need to safeguard peace, stability, cooperation and development, observe the rights to freedom of navigation and aviation as well as the legitimate rights and interests of countries in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
On the occasion, Nguyen invited Yoon to visit Viet Nam and the latter accepted the invitation with pleasure./.
