Pangasius exports to UK up by 43% in H1

VGP - As of Mid-June, pangasius exports to the UK surged sharply by 43%, according to the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

The UK was the EU’s fourth largest importer of Vietnamese pangasius after Spain, the Netherlands and Germany.  

In the first five months of 2015, the shipment of pangasius progressed positively of which January witnessed the sharpest increase at 97.8% against the same period in 2014.  

Four successive months from February till May, pangasius export growth rates ranged from 12% to 60.5% comparing to the same period last year.

Frozen fillet accounted for 86% total pangasius exported from Viet Nam to the market.

Viet Nam dominated pangasius imports of the UK. Most fish imports are for consumption./.
