Statistics showed that female guest workers got an average monthly income of US$1,000.

Viet Nam has sent 130,640 workers abroad in the first ten 10 months this year, exceeding the full year's target of 125,000 workers, reported the Department of Overseas Labor under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.

Dollars sent home by overseas Vietnamese communities reached more than US$190 billion between 1993 and 2022, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang told the audience at a conference on Wednesday.

The above figure is equivalent to the total disbursed volume of foreign direct investment inflows in the Southeast Asian country over the same period, Le added.

In 2022, Viet Nam received a total of US$19 billion in remittances, up 5 percent against 2021, positioning the country as the 10th largest recipient of remittances globally.

The overseas Vietnamese communities rose from 2.7 million in 2003 to around six million by the end of 2023. They are working in 130 countries and territories, 80 percent of them in developed countries.
