The 9-ha center to be located in Hòa Lạc Hi-Tech Zone in Hà Nội will research and produce small satellites used for weather forecast, observation, exploration, radio and television broadcasting, salvage and rescue…
Once complete by 2018, the center will become a leading space training and research centre in Asia, and will design and produce small satellites capable of observing the Earth in high-resolution.
According to Japanese experts, with the center’s support, Việt Nam can reduce losses caused by natural disasters by 10%.
The Government has assigned the Việt Nam Academy of Science and Technology, which manages the Việt Nam Space Technology Institute, to implement the project with design and construction to be assisted by Japan, especially the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
The Việt Nam Space Technology Institute is set to master Earth-observing small satellite technologies by 2020, and design, and manufacture such satellites by 2030.
