Of the total investment volume, the investors poured US$150.1 million in 41 new projects and US$422.1 million in 15 existing projects, said the ministry.
Most of the overseas investment projects of Viet Nam focus on science and technology with US$270.8 million and retail sales US$148.1 million, making up 47.3 percent and 25.9 percent, respectively.
The U.S. was the top destination for Vietnamese capital over the period among 20 nations and territories with US$302.8 million, making up 52.9 percent. It was followed by Cambodia US$89.4 million, Laos US$47.8 million and Canada US$32.1 million.
So far, Viet Nam had 1,429 valid overseas projects totaling US$21.8 billion.
