One pillar pagoda sets Asian architectural record

VGP - The One Pillar Pagoda, a historic Buddhist temple in Ha Noi, has been recognized by the Asian Records Organization as the temple having the most unique architecture, according to the Viet Nam Records Organization.

The One Pillar Pagoda

The pagoda was built in 1049 on the orders of King Ly Thai Tong. It was named Dien Huu which means long-lasting happiness and good luck. 

The pagoda was built of wood on a single stone pillar, which is 1.2 meter in diameter and 4 meter high, and resembled a lotus blossom, the Buddhist symbol of purity.

With its special architectural and historical values, the pagoda was classified as a national historic site in 1962.

It was recorded in Viet Nam‘s Guinness Book of Records on May 4, 2006, as the pagoda with the most unique architecture in Viet Nam.

The pagoda has become one of the most interesting architectural complexes in Ha Noi, attracting a large number of domestic and overseas tourists when they visit the city./.
