It is part of the Government’s recently issued Decree  06/2011/NĐ-CP to detailing and guiding the Việt Nam’s Law on Old People.

Those receiving above mentioned pension are belonging to poor families without guardians or with guardians who are beneficiaries of monthly pension.

For persons aged 80 and over who are not living in the poor households, they are still allowed to receive VND 180,000 a month if they do not have retirement salary, monthly social insurance, or social pension.

Chairmen of provinces and centrally-governed cities will decide the local specific pension benchmarks based on their realities, but the benchmarks will not be lower than those stipulated in this Decree.

Beside social pension, old people will be given other preferences, such as 15% discount for traffic tickets and services, 20% discount for visiting cultural, historic relics, museums, natural landscapes, and training in sports complex./.
