New highway groundbroken, connecting Hà Nội and Thái Nguyên

VGP – The Hà Nội–Thái Nguyên Expressway will be a precondition for socio-economic development in all provinces through which it runs.

The construction of the expressway was kick-started on Tuesday morning in Thái Nguyên City of the northern province of Thái Nguyên.

Speaking at the ceremony, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng emphasized the significance of the highway, stating that it is an important precondition for speeding up socio-economic development in all provinces where it runs through.

The Government chief ordered the Ministry of Transport, investor and contractors to fruitfully use capital resources, realize the project on schedule, and ensure its quality.

Leaders of the local government were convinced that the expressway is very essential for Thái Nguyên to accelerate its development and attract more investments.

They pledged to create best conditions for the implementation of the project, from conducting site clearance to providing available materials.

The Hà Nội-Thái Nguyên Expressway

- Total investment capital: VND 8,000 billion

- Design speed: 100km/h

- Length of main route: 61.3 km

- Width of the road surface: 34.5m, with four lanes

- Completion scheduled in 2010.
