New Chairman of General Department of Politics appointed
VGP - VGP – Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet has been appointed Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the People’s Army of Viet Nam.

President To Lam, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, hands over appointment decision to Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet at the Presidential Palace in Ha Noi on June 3, 2024.
Trinh was promoted to the new role from his previous position as Vice Chairman of the General Department of Politics.
Trinh was born on January 22, 1966 in Thanh Quang commune, Thanh Ha district, Hai Duong province.
He was appointed Vice Chairman of the General Department of Politics in April 2021.
The General Department of Politics current has two Vice Chairmen: Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau and Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh./.
