National Tourism Year 2025 kick-started in Hue ancient city

The National Tourism Year 2025, themed “Hue—Ancient Capital, New Opportunities,” includes nearly 160 international and national cultural, economic, social, and tourism activities which will be held across 63 provinces and cities throughout the country.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh said that that tourism represents a key economic sector that not only creates jobs and improves income for millions of workers but also helps many remote households escape poverty.

"Tourism revitalizes forgotten historical sites, enhances cultural exchange and international cooperation, fosters friendship and peace, and promotes Viet Nam's unique cultural values both domestically and internationally," he added.

Mai underscored the importance of upholding the core values of unique tourism products, professional services, simple and convenient procedures, reasonable pricing, clean and beautiful environment; and safe, civilized, and friendly destinations in order to transform Viet Nam into a leading global destination in the coming years.

2025 is expected to be a milestone marking the strong return of Viet Nam's tourism, with a goal of attractiing 22-23 million international visitors, 120-130 million domestic visitors, and reaching total revenue of about US$41 billion.

Viet Nam is entering a new era where tourism is not just about experiences but also a bridge for friendship, cooperation, and sustainable development. Therefore, the tourism industry needs to thoroughly implement the Prime Minister's direction on comprehensive, rapid, and sustainable tourism development with the motto, "Distinctive products—Professional services—Convenient and simple procedures—Reasonable prices—Clean and beautiful environment—Safe, civilized, and friendly destinations.", he added.

Since March 1, Viet Nam waived visa with a duration of stay of up to 45 days for citizens of Poland, Czechia, and Switzerland traveling on package tours, adding to a list of 25 countries enjoying visa-free entry.

Viet Nam has issued e-visa to citizens of all countries and territories around the world and increase the validity duration to up to 90 days.
