National action program on civil registration, vital statistics ratified

VGP – The Government has approved a national action program on civil registration and vital statistics in the phase from 2017-2024.

By 2020, at least 75% of the population in Viet Nam will be registered and granted with birth certificates and the proportion will rise to 85% by 2024.

By 2024, at least 80% of deaths will be given certificates suitable with the standards of the international hospital classifications.

The program ensures that the Vietnamese citizens, foreigners residing in Viet Nam’s territory and Overseas Vietnamese citizens will be promptly, fully and exactly granted with civil registrations and raises the proportion of civil registration, focusing on birth and death certificates.

Steering board on national action program set up

Steering board on national action program on civil registration and vital statistics has been set up, chaired by the leader of the Ministry of Justice.

Its members include representatives of the Government Office, the Ministries of Health, Planning and Investment, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Public security, Foreign Affairs and Finance.

The board is responsible for coordinating and guiding the implementation of the program, urging ministries, agencies and localities to launch the program and tackle obstacles during the realization process.
