The NA Chairman expressed his belief that the delegation's visit would help strengthen the relationship between the Viet Nam NA and the French Senate in particular and the two countries' relations in general.

Speaking highly of the group's contributions to the ties between the two legislative bodies and the two countries, the Vietnamese leader said the Vietnamese NA has set up the Viet Nam-France Friendship Parliamentarians' Group to strengthen the role and activities of the Vietnamese legislature in the Francophone community.

He proposed the two groups continue working closely together to enhance the connectivity and collaboration between French regions and Vietnamese localities and play a role in monitoring the implementation of agreements and documents signed by the two Governments.

He suggested both sides should increase cooperation in climate change adaptation, environment protection, energy transition, and economic connectivity.

Welcoming France's initiative to organize the upcoming ASEAN Market Forum, the top Vietnamese legislator affirmed that Viet Nam is ready to send representatives to the event.

As the Viet Nam NA will host the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians on September 14, Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue hoped the French parliament would send a delegation to the event to enhance exchanges and understanding among young parliamentarians and contribute to its discussions.

For her part, Chairwoman Catherine Deroche thanked the Vietnamese NA Chairman for spending time with the delegation. At the same time, she expressed her delight when recalling her visit to Viet Nam with Senate President Gérard Larcher (December 2022).

According to Deroche, the France-Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group hopes that both sides will continue exploring new areas of cooperation, including dealing with global challenges such as environmental protection and climate change.

She highlighted that France is Viet Nam's top trade partner in the European Union and wished that the two countries would push forward with bilateral economic cooperation./.
