More than 48,000 Vietnamese laborers sent abroad in four months

VGP - Viet Nam sent 48,363 workers abroad in the first four months of this year, reaching 38.7 percent of this year's initial plan.

Of the figure, 14,193 were female, according to the Department of Overseas Labor under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.

Japan continued to be Viet Nam's leading manpower importer, receiving 29,665 Vietnamese workers, followed by Taiwan with 14,908 workers and South Korea with 815 workers.

Other markets such as China (535), Singapore (393), Romania (320), Thailand (295), Macao (China) (182), Saudia Arabia (214), Hungary (164), and others also increased manpower import from Viet Nam.

Currently, more than 500 labor export businesses have sent workers to more than 40 countries and territories.

Since 2010, more than 1.4 million workers have been sent to work abroad under labor contracts. On average, about 120,000-143,000 workers go abroad each year, bringing home around US$3.5-4 billion in remittances.

In 2023, Viet Nam sent nearly 160,000 workers abroad, or 133.3 percent of the yearly plan, setting new record in over ten years, reported the ministry./.
