Ministry proposes COVID-19 vaccine purchase for children aged 5-11

VGP - The Ministry of Health has proposed the Government to purchase 21.9 million doses of Pfizer vaccine for children aged from 5-11, according to Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long.

The Ministry is actively preparing for vaccinating children aged 5-11 against COVID-19 in line with science-based recommendations to ensure safety and effectiveness. 

As of mid-Friday, Viet Nam received 209.6 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, 173.7 million of which were administered. Around 67.6 million adults have been fully vaccinated while more than 12.5 million people received the booster shots. 

The country has begun vaccination against COVID-19 for adolescences aged 12-17 since November 2021. So far, over 15.3 million doses were administered and seven million people were fully vaccinated. 

By January 20, 41 out of 63 localities nationwide finished administering two doses of vaccines to 100 percent of adolescences aged 12-17.
