According to the Ministry of Trade, in 2006, despite a booming number of newly-launched business websites, they are confined to just introducing the company and range of products and services while e-business transactions such as order placement and online payment are absent most of the time.
The ministry stressed that in the times of international integration, e-business serves as an essential tool to help enterprises reduce transaction costs, save time, improve competitiveness and speed up their participation in the common market. The forum gave a look at the factual use of e-business in Vietnam, policies and legislation supporting e-business, the security issue, IT infrastructure serving e-business, and cases of well embracing e-business and based on the discussion, work out measures to boost e-business in payment and trade at small and medium enterprises.
At the Forum, Techcombank, Vietcombank and Visa Asia Pacific introduced their e-payment solutions in banking.
As part of the Forum, the VeBiz Exhibition is now on with 15 stalls displaying products and e-business solutions from domestic and world suppliers such as Techcombank, Vietnam Airlines, Lacviet, and 123 Mua.
