In the first export load, a total of three tonnes of fresh mango were shipped to the Japanese market.

To meet requirements for mango exports to Japan, Vietnamese relevant agencies have spent five years making files and building a disease control process.

Before entering Japan, Vietnamese mangoes must undergo a hot steam treatment process (like dragon fruit). Viet Nam has five factories providing hot steam treatment, including four using codes regulated by Japan.

As planned, Vietnamese mango will be sold at 209 outlets of the AEON group around Japan with two prices of 429 yen per fruit (around VND77,000) and 645 yen per fruit (around VND116,000).

By the end of this year, Viet Nam will export an additional 80 tonnes of mango to the Japanese market via both air and sea.
