Mr. Hoang Thanh Van, Director of the Department of Livestock Production revealed that livestock production was one of important fields for the agriculture to escape from minus growth rate  in the first half of 2016.

The breeding sector would account for over 23-24% of agricultural production thanks to highly increasing values of pig and poultry production.

“So far, Viet Nam has succeeded in providing 100% good breeders” said Mr. Van. This year, Viet Nam imported around 7,400 pig breeders from the U.S., Canada, Denmark, and France. The figure was 28.7% higher than the same period last year.

The Director report that livestock output is relatively abundant with millions of tons of products and over one billion of eggs. Livestock products are available for exportation and at good quality, he added.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has already sent working groups to investigate and supervise food hygiene./.
