The group is currently the world's leading container shipping company, accounting for approximately 22 percent of the global market share and operating a fleet of more than 1,000 vessels. In addition to maritime shipping, MSC invests and operates seaports and provides logistics, road, rail and air transport services.
Toft expressed his impression of Viet Nam's economic growth and long-term development vision, adding that Viet Nam's clear development strategy gives investors confidence, particularly in seaport and logistics sectors.
Viet Nam is an important market in MSC's development strategy, he underlined.
According to the CEO of MSC, in the Hai Phong port area, the group aims to improve the operational capacity of existing ports, increase their ability to accommodate large container vessels, and develop inland container depots, logistics services and transport infrastructure connecting ports with regional manufacturing centers.
In southern Viet Nam, MSC is particularly interested in the Can Gio International Transshipment Port project, which aims to establish a large-scale container transshipment hub connected to the group's global shipping network.
MSC also hopes to explore cooperation opportunities in rail transport, inland container depots and seaport projects in central Viet Nam, he shared, adding that the group stands ready to share its experience, resources, and management and operational expertise to work with Vietnamese partners on new cooperation projects.
The Standing Deputy Prime Minister, for his part, praised MSC for expanding its investment activities in Viet Nam, particularly its cooperation projects with Viet Nam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) in Hai Phong and Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City. Through its global shipping network, MSC is helping connect Viet Nam's import and export goods with international markets.
He called on the group to further strengthen the effectiveness of its cooperation with VIMC and consider expanding investment in seaport construction and operations, shipbuilding, shipping and logistics, in line with the nation's development plans and strategic orientations./.
