Leaders congratulate Viet Tri on founding anniversary

VGP - Viet Tri City, Phu Tho Province on June 2 held its 50th founding anniversary, with the attendance of State President Truong Tan Sang, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

During the anniversary, Viet Tri received the first-class Independence Order and the Decision which recognizes it as the first-class urban area.

Viet Tri is striving to post economic growth rates of 15% a year, and by 2015 its industry, service, agriculture will account for 57.6%, 41.1% and1.3% in its GDP, respectively.

Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the achievements Viet Tri has gained. He said that right from the dawn of the nation’s history, Hung Kings chose Viet Tri as the capital.

Viet Tri city is the cradle of the Vietnamese nation, where the first kings of the country – the Hung Kings - established their capital. It has witnessed many battles in the country’s long history of fighting invaders.

Viet Tri first became a city on June 4, 1962 under a Government decision, which also designated Viet Tri to be the first industrial town in the cause of socialist construction in northern Vietnam.
