Ishiba welcomed the recent establishment of the 2+2 dialogue mechanism at the deputy foreign and defense minister level between Viet Nam and Japan.
He promised that Japan will continue to back and support Viet Nam in building an independent and self-reliant economy, materalizing the goals of becoming an upper-middle income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2045.
Ishiba also appreciated the positive contributions of the 630,000 Vietnamese community in Japan, vowing to continue to support and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese people to live, study and work in Japan.
He expressed his wish that both sides will further promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
President Luong welcomed Ishiba's first visit to Viet Nam as head of the Japanese Government, affirming that Viet Nam attaches importance to the relationship with Japan and supports Japan to play an increasingly active role and contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
Luong was convinced that Ishiba's visit will open up a new stage of development in the bilateral relationship in a closer and more effective direction, meeting the interests of the people of the two countries, contributing to cooperation and development in the region.
President Luong took the occasion to call upon the two sides to cement and deepen economic, trade and investment partnership, promote science and technology cooperation, and implement specific cooperation projects in new areas such as digital transformation, green transition, high-quality human resource training, semiconductors, and AI.
Luong also suggested Japan support Viet Nam in improving its capacity to respond to climate change, and promote high-tech agricultural cooperation with the Southeast Asian nation./.
