Issue stamp collection on Hung Kings worship rituals

VGP - On the occasion of the Hung Temple Festival 2015, the Ministry of Culture and Information and the Phu Tho People's Committee and Viet Nam Post issued a special stamp collection on Hung Kings Worship.

The stamp samples shows Lac Hong grandchildren, the elders and Viet Nam ethnic groups of people burning incense to Hung Kings; image of Chung cake (square rice cake) and Day cake (round rice cake).

The stamp collection consists of three stamp samples and one block, which were designed by artists Vo Luong Nhi and Vu Kim Lien.

It was made from glued fabric paper and printed with offset method with its size of 46x 31 mm, and 135x 80 mm for stamp block.

The collection will feature the entrance to Hung Kings Temple, Hung Kings worship rituals, and Vietnamese ethnic groups’ preparations to offer gift to Hung Kings.

The unique practice of worshipping Hung Kings in Phu Tho province, Viet Nam, was recognised by UNESCO as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage on December 6, 2012.

For generations, Vietnamese people have believed the Hung Kings are the founders of the country and the ancestors of the nation.

Therefore, the worship of Hung Kings has become a unique cultural ritual in the spiritual life of the nation. It is also a symbol of origin that stimulates solidarity and national pride.
