In’l Air Balloon Festival to be held in Hue

For this year’s edition the event has attracted 10 hot air balloons from Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, the Netherlands, and host Viet Nam.

Visitors to the event will have the chance to enjoy a balloon ride to see the city of Hue from a different perspective, enjoy performances put on by hot air balloons, and take photos with the colourful hot air balloons.

The Hue International Hot Air Balloon Festival promises to bring a new breeze, adorn Hue sky and feature a colorful picture with giant balloons. 

The festival is not only an international sports event but also a cultural and tourism product. It also contributes to the success of the eighth Traditional Craft Festival 2019 as well as the richness and diversification of Thua Thien-Hue province’s tourism sector.

The city aims to attract about 4.7 million visitors in 2019 with 45% being foreigners, a rise of about 7% year on year. The province, owning many UNESCO-recognised tangible and intangible heritages as well as beautiful beaches, targets VND 4.9 trillion (US$210.7 million) in tourism revenue in the year, up 10% compared to the previous year. 

In 2018, Thua Thien-Hue welcomed more than 4.3 million visitors, of which the number of foreign visitors rose 30%.

The festival, which is sponsored by Balloons Over Hue Co., Ltd, is expected to have a total estimated expenditure of VND 3 billion ( US$ 129,000).
