He made the point in the context that investment rate for information security only accounts for less than 5% of total investment capital for an ICT project in Viet Nam compared to the global average rate of 15%-20%.
Like many other countries, Viet Nam has no choice but to accelerate ICT development and ICT-based sectors, Dam added.
Viet Nam ranked 50th on the Global Cybersecurity Index (CGI) rankings in 2018, up 50 places from a year earlier, according to a report by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).
With a score of 0.693, Viet Nam ranked 11th in the Asia-Pacific region, which was topped by Singapore, Malaysia and Australia.
The Southeast Asian country’s outstanding performance has exceeded the initial target of climbing to the 70th position.
Meanwhile, the Asia Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC) reported that Viet Nam is among the world’s top 10 and Asia’s top five economies in IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) cable rate.
Viet Nam has overcome many technologically advanced countries in IPv6 implementation, such as France (11th), Japan (14th), and the U.K. (20th).
At present, Viet Nam has 64.5 million Internet users, including some 20 million people connecting to the Internet through IPv6, accounting for 38.48%./.
