At a recent reception for Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Cao Chinh Thien, who was newly appointed as Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to IFAD, Nwanze said he was impressed with Viet Nam’s development in recent years.

He highlighted the increasing number of projects approved to be carried out in Viet Nam as well as their efficiency, affirming that this shows the Vietnamese Government’s strong efforts in eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, and promoting agricultural development.

Viet Nam’s endeavours help reinforce trust of IFAD’s donors, thus maintaining their aid for the fund, he said.

Ambassador Thien in turn informed Viet Nam’s achievements in rural development and poverty reduction and pledged to promote relations between ASEAN and IFAD.

He said he will do his best to promote Viet Nam-IFAD relations, especially in connecting farm produce markets in the ASEAN member states.
