Hồ Chí Minh Statue inaugurated in Mexico

VGP - The monument of President Hồ Chí Minh was inaugurated in the Mexican coastal city of Acapulco on May 19 on the occasion of his 120th birthday and the 35th anniversary of the Việt Nam-Mexico diplomatic relations establishment.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Phạm Văn Quế thanked the city’s authorities and people for backing the erection of the monument. He described that an active action for the closer friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Acapulco’s Mayor Manuel Banorve Banos highlighted the great role of President Hồ Chí Minh in Việt Nam’s struggle for national liberation, as well as his status in the world’s history.

The same day, Mr. Phạm Văn Quế and Mr. Manuel Banorve Banos signed a memorandum of understanding for the Vietnamese sea city of Hạ Long to be twinned with Acapulco.

According to statistics of Việt Nam’s Hồ Chí Minh Museum, Hồ Chí Minh, in his 30 years of revolutionary activities abroad, traveled to 42 countries all over the world. Since 1990, 60 monuments have been built in foreign countries in commemoration of the President.
