The UK-Southeast Asia Tech Week 2025, an event dedicated to catalysing digital innovation and fostering robust partnerships between the United Kingdom and Southeast Asia, particularly Viet Nam, took place in Ho Chi Minh City from March 27-28.
This year's edition builds on the success of 2024's event and marks a significant milestone in the journey toward a more interconnected digital future between the two countries.
Within the framework of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Ho Chi Minh City's Digital Transformation Center and British Consulate General to enhance cooperation in science, technology and innovation, including digital transformation, smart city technology, financial technology (fintech), transformational technologies, and health care technology (health-tech).
The MoU marks a significant step forward in strengthening the partnership between the UK and Ho Chi Minh City in the digital and technology sector, said Iain Frew, the British Ambassador to Viet Nam.
"By fostering deeper collaboration in digital transformation, we are paving the way for new opportunities that will drive economic growth and technological advancement", he shared.
British Ambassador to Viet Nam and Deputy Trade Commissioner for Asia Pacific (Southeast Asia), Rhiannon Harries, led a delegation of 12 pioneering British artificial intelligence (AI) and data companies, exploring opportunities for collaboration with Vietnamese partners in the tech ecosystem.
