Health ministry receives 100,000 Sputnik Light vaccine doses from Russia

VGP – Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan on December 29 received 100,000 doses of Sputnik Light vaccine donated by the Russian Government to Viet Nam.

Russian Ambassador to Viet Nam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko and Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi attended the event. 

Mr Tran expressed thanks and spoke highly of the Russian Government and people for providing vaccines for Viet Nam.

He emphasized the significance of the vaccine donation as the two nations are celebrating the 72nd founding anniversary of their diplomatic ties (January 30, 1950). 

For his part, the Russian Ambassador suggested the two countries continue cooperation in combating COVID-19 through specific health cooperation activities, asserting that Russia will coordinate with Viet Nam in this challenging fight. 

As of December 29, Viet Nam recorded 1,694,874 COVID-19 infections, including 1,302,542 recoveries and 31,877 fatalities. 

More than 149.3 million vaccine doses were administered by Thursday noon, with 90 percent of adults above 18 having been fully vaccinated./.
