The city plans to build some 16,896 apartments for low-income and poor households by 2015.

It will also remove some 13,296 households living along canals in an effort to beautify the urban areas.

The country’s biggest economic hub sets the target to increase housing space from 12m2/person in 2010 to 17m2/person in 2015, 28.3m2/person in 2020, and 35.7m2/person in 2030.

Creating comfortable living space for residents helps improve their living standard, the city’s leaders said.
