Ho Chi Minh City will set fireworks displays to celebrate Viet Nam’s 80th National Day on September 2

The three high-altitude displays will take place at the Saigon River Tunnel entrance (An Khanh ward), the central square of the new urban area in Binh Duong ward, and Thuy Van Square in Vung Tau ward. The low-altitude show will be held at Dam Sen Cultural Park in Binh Thoi ward.

Each display will last 15 minutes, beginning at 9:00 p.m.

Ahead of the fireworks, the city will host special art performances starting at 7:30 p.m. at three venues namely Nguyen Hue Street in Sai Gon ward, the outdoor stage of the central park in the new urban area in Binh Duong ward, and Thuy Van Square in Vung Tau ward.

These cultural and entertainment events are expected to draw large crowds of residents and visitors, adding vibrancy to the city's festive atmosphere as the nation marks its 80th National Day.

Earlier, over 30 cities and provinces across Viet Nam will hold cultural events, concerts, and fireworks on September 2 for National Day, following a directive from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The Prime Minister said the festivities are intended to create a joyful, uplifting atmosphere, inspire the public, and enhance people's spiritual life.

Around 200 major projects are also slated to be launched or inaugurated during the holiday.

In August 1945, a nationwide uprising seized power in just 15 days, leading to Viet Nam's independence after nearly a century under French colonial rule and Japanese occupation. On Sept. 2 that year at Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam, now the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam./.
