The three patients resided at Binh Chanh District, District 11 and Vo Vap District. They have been in close contact with a Vietnamese entrant who arrived in Viet Nam on January 7 from the U.S.

As of January 18, the Ministry of Health reported that Viet Nam confirmed 70 imported cases of Omicron variant.

Specifically, 30 cases were detected in HCMC, one in Ha Noi, 27 cases in Quang Nam, one in Hai Duong, one in Hai Phong, two in Thanh Hoa, three in Da Nang, two in Khanh Hoa, one in Long An, and two in Quang Ninh.

With the three latest cases, the number of Omicron patients in HCMC rose to 33.

The HCMC Center for Disease Control reported that test samples will be collected in areas with high infection rates for genome surveillance of Omicron so that preventive measures will be timely deployed to curb virus transmission.

The Ministry of Health has repeatedly warned of the risk of Omicron spreading to the community, especially during the year-end and Tet holidays. People are required to strictly observe the 5K measure (mask - disinfection - distance - do not gather - medical declaration), fully vaccinated and always be alert to prevent infection./.
